They say bad runs happen, and some for no reason. Apparently mine was today, but pretty sure the bad run part was all on my doing.
On Sunday I had a pretty good solo 2.85 mile (no pushing the stroller!) and in the last mile I really upped my speed. Following this run my right achilles was a bit sore and has been for the last 2 days. Today on my run I went right out the gate on my speed and made my already a bit sore achilles into a limp.
I knew today was going to be a hard day - the temperature has been climbing into the 70's - perfect weather really; but I am really starting to hate running in my HOT Cotton Yoga Pants - they stick to my sweating legs and feel 'heavy.' Further, I don't think I ate enough earlier in the day so my energy was lacking.
Goodness this sounds like a whining fest, doesn't it? Maybe I just wasn't into it. Either way and whatever the reasons...I ran too fast and got hurt.
I. am. not. happy.
My 5k race is in 12 days and I jacked up my achilles and have an injury. I still didn't feel like I was where I wanted to be for my race and this doesn't help.
Excuse me while I have a pity party for a party of 1.
*btw - I am stuck at the same weight going on a 3rd week. (at least I haven't gained, right??)
To be the best 'you'
For what it’s worth: it’s never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There’s no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
F. Scott Fitzgerald
This. This applies to so many aspects of life. Of course at first it comes off like a cheesy high school graduation quote....but it is SO true and accurate of a good life guide.

Ease into 5K :: Week 8
Success! I have fully completed my Ease into 5k training app! I would have been finished one training day sooner, but I accidentally didn't forward to the W8D2 on the app when I should have, so I repeated W8D1.
Week 8 Day 1 (Repeat) :: Treadmill
I tried to re-create the magical W8D1 training run that I had at my parents a few days before hand. I set up my laptop to play a movie so that I would have a better distraction then the basement concrete wall I have been staring at for every training run previously. This run went certainly better then my week 7 runs, and my calorie count went back into the normal range. Overall - ok run.
Week 8 Day 2 :: Outside run
Sunday turned out to be a great day for an outside run; a little bit of wind but sunny and finally not freezing! I loaded FratBoy3 into our jogging stroller at his nap time and off we went! Having not run out by our house before I created a route using www.RunningAhead.com which worked pretty good. What I didn't anticipate was running faster and having to add 'legs' into every subdivision cul-de-sac along the way to use all my training time. Overall - good run, but had to run the shoulder of a very busy road twice. so not first choice route.
Week 8 Day 3 :: Outside run (in town)
Final app training run! With the 5k race a little over 2 weeks away I really want to pack in my runs outside as much as possible from here on out and with the 'trusty' weather gal saying Sunny and 70 degrees, I planned on taking both younger FratBoys on my run in town. While the weather gal was most certainly wrong - it was cloudy and 51....I just layered the boys and myself up for our run. I once again had laid out a route and this time made sure it was long enough for the 40 minute training run. I failed however to check if there were sidewalks the whole way...oops. Lesson learned and completed my route right on time! Overall - good run, will change up the route a bit, but think this will be a regular running area.
Glad to be done with official 'app' training, but will continue to work on running 3 days a week to increase my endurance and speed. Full Ease into 5k recap is in the works!

'Shred in May' Pre - Measurements
Ouch. I am about to do day 2 of my '30 day shred' challenge and I am sore. Yesterday I completed day 1 workout and ran 3 miles a few hours later on a route that contained quite a few hills. No joke. I. am. sore.
Although not as sore as I think I will be tomorrow after I repeat the 30 day shred and running combo again. I may not walk on Friday at this rate. Guessing it is a good thing FratBoy1 can get in the fridge himself and get food out of the pantry. I may hand over mommy duties to him Friday.
Anywhoo...I don't have a Pre-30 day challenge picture yet - may have to be a day 2 or 3 picture. But I did take pre-measurements yesterday and hope to see some big differences particularly in the belly. *thanks 3 pregnancies....
